The City Of Perry Police Department accepts applications for employment on a continuous basis. Currently applicants for the position of patrol officer are being sought. The Perry Police Department is also offering to pay for persons to go the police academy pending a background check, and a three year contract with the Perry Police Department.

A Police Officer performs a wide variety of tasks to promote public safety and security, including crime prevention and general enforcement of law and performing related work. The duties of Police Officer encompass, but are not limited to, patrolling, crime detection, investigation, traffic enforcement and traffic control.

There are certain minimum requirements for the position of patrol officer with the Perry Police Department. To be eligible for the position an applicant must have passed the TABE test with a minimum of score that correlates to a 12th grade education. You must be the minimum age of 19 (nineteen) years of age and possess a valid driver's license. Educational requirements for education are that you possess a high school diploma or GED. Visual ability must be correctable to 20/20 vision in each eye with normal color and depth perception. Applicants must submit to both a psychological and polygraph examination. Applicants must also pass medical and drug screenings. An oral board examination will also be conducted. Applicants must pass all examination successfully.

A background investigation will be conducted on applicants as part of the hiring process. Applicant must not have been convicted of any felonies or misdemeanors involving perjury. This process also requires that applicants be fingerprinted.

The Perry Police Department has several incentives for employees. The City OF Perry Police Department offers a pay incentive program,group hospitalization and life insurance, accrued sick leave, paid holidays, retirement program, all uniforms and equipment are furnished (including cleaning expenses), and 40 (forty) hours of vacation time at the end of the first year.
